Gayland went to Nimitz High School and soon after joined the Marine Corps, where he served with honor. His career began at the Kirby Company, where he excelled as a salesman and rose to the position of Factory Distributor. His achievements included numerous awards and a memorable trip to Barcelona. After 16 years at Kirby, Gayland transitioned to the roofing industry, where he continued to distinguish himself as a top salesman before founding Freeman Roofing & Construction.
He was a devoted husband to Ashley Waynette Freeman and a loving father to Gayland Darrell Freeman Jr., Jayland Wayne Freeman, Dontraye Lee Grant, and Jaylee Waynette Freeman. His family was his world, and he cherished watching his children's sports games and planning family vacations. His hobbies also included working in his yard, fishing, hunting, and enjoying trips to the casino with his wife.
Gayland was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Ames and Dudley D. Freeman.
Services will be held at Cashner Funeral Home , 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303, on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception.
Gayland will be remembered as a remarkable friend and family man whose legacy of love and laughter will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
