George was born February 10, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Louise and Jack Cooper. His Dad worked for the Canadian Railroad, so he went to school in several different states. He graduated from Reagan High School in Houston, Texas. After graduation, he began college at Baylor University.
George worked for Ideal Cement Company in Houston for over twenty-five years. He then joined a company his friend owned in Rockport, Texas. He stayed with Spray 'N' Grow until he retired and moved to Conroe.
Monyeen and George met at West Conroe Baptist Church in Conroe and married in 1999. George always loved being in God’s House and sang in the choir. Being in a home Bible Study with his friends was a highlight in his life.
A source of joy was his family, especially as he got older.
Holding their babies was his specialty.
George leaves behind his wife, Monyeen Cooper; Son, Steven Cooper and wife Theresa; grandson, Cameron Cooper; Children, Robert Rountree, Kristin Voigt, and David Bunce; his grandchildren, Joseph Rountree, Justin Rountree (Jamie), Cheyenne Bishop (Weston), Monica Bunce, Maggi Carmichael (Ryan), Connor Greer, Lucas Greer, Ethan Voigt; and five great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Jack Cooper; Daughter and Son-in-law, Cindy and Mike Escamilla; daughter, Robyn Bunce; and grandson, Stephen Rountree.
George believed in his Savior, Jesus Christ and today he is rejoicing in Heaven.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 10:30am-11:30am at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas, 77304 followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:30am. A Graveside Service for Mr. Cooper will be held at 1:00pm at Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas, 77304 where he will be laid to rest.
