Geraldine Adams, 85 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at home. Gerry was born August 22, 1936, in Kerrville, Texas to the late Pleasant (Pleas) and Lena Lewis. She was the oldest of 5 children, 3 preceded her in death. Gerry grew up in Buda, Texas and attended what is now Texas State University for one year.
Gerry married Thomas Wayne Adams on July 2, 1964. They raised their two children together first in Houston and eventually settling in Willis, Texas in 1977. Gerry professed her life to Christ at an early age, even making a priority to walk her younger siblings to church with her when they were children. In Houston, the Adams family attended Richmond Plaza Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU and lead and mentored young girls through the Acteens program.
When Wayne and Gerry moved to Willis, they joined First Baptist Church of Willis. Gerry loved serving in the church and spending time with her church family there as well. Teaching Mission Friends, Girls in Action and the two-year old Sunday School class, as well as serving as the WMU and VBS Directors, and on the missions committee when they worked to start the Calvary Road Baptist Church were some of Gerry’s greatest memories. But, the thing she was the most proud of was her service as the coordinator of the nursing home ministry at the Willis Convalescent Center for 34 years where she organized monthly birthday parties and annual Christmas parties for the residents there. In the last several years Gerry did not leave the house much as her health started to decline, but she continued to share her joy of the Lord with others through her inspirational clip art and Facebook posts. Gerry leaves a legacy of generosity, love and kindness. She was a walking example of Matthew 22:37-39.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kelly Wayne Adams. Gerry leaves to cherish her loving memory, her devoted husband of 57 years, Wayne Adams; her daughter, Terri Coleman (Bill); her daughter-in-law, Alla Adams; her grandchildren, Laura Beth Pleasant (Brian), Jamie Robertson (Zach), Daniel Robertson, and Victoria Doroshenko; her foster granddaughter, Holly Hapke (Greg); four great-grandchildren, Jaxon Pleasant, Lillian Shehan, Ellinor Robertson and Brady Shehan; her brother, Larry Lewis; her sister-in-law and dear friend, Nelda Sifford; and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Willis on Saturday, September 18th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and the celebration of life will start at 11:00 am. Graveside services will follow immediately after at Cashner Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe, Texas. You are invited to view our webpage and leave written tributes to the family at cashnerconroe.com
