Funeral services and a celebration of life for Giles Henry Acker, age 81, of Montgomery, TX will be held on Tuesday September 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Cashner Colonial Chapel, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX. Interment will follow in Conroe Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest next to his oldest son, Randy Earl. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 5, 2011 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home.
Giles was born February 11, 1930 in Seminole, OK to H.E. “Bud” and Patricia Wheeler Acker. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Earl, his sisters, Helen, Jean and Lynn, and his oldest son, Randy Earl Acker. Giles died on September 2, 2011 after a long fight with many cardio and pulmonary complications.
He is survived by his daughter Lori Westmoreland and her husband Bob of Conroe; his sons Richard Acker and his wife Joyce of New Caney, Darrell Acker and his wife Susan of Weatherford, Thomas Acker and his wife Julie of Conroe and Steve Acker and his wife Cindy of Montgomery; his grandchildren Bobby Westmoreland, Kari Westmoreland, Kyle Westmoreland, Shawn Acker and his wife Leslie, Greggory Adams and his wife Kristen, Jonathan Acker, Jon Acker, Steven Acker, Robert Acker and his wife Tiffany, Daniel Acker, Cortney Schmuker and her husband Aaron, Jonathan Hoffman and Heather Reeves; and his great grandchildren Austin Acker, Ashlynn Acker, Alyssa Acker, Robert Acker and Londynn Schmuker. He is also survived by his ex-wife and our mother, Patti S. Acker. Since his father had nine brothers and sisters, there is a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who also survive as well as all the friends who loved him dearly.
Pallbearers will be Richard Acker, Darrell Acker, Thomas Acker, Bob Westmoreland, Bobby Westmoreland, Kyle Westmoreland and Jonathan Hoffman.
Special thanks to Dr. Boyle and Dr. Flores and all the other doctors and nurses for never giving up on our Dad and for the great care they gave him.
