Greg was an outdoorsman at heart who found great joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. Whether on a lake before sunrise, in a deer blind with family, or simply enjoying the outdoors, he felt most at home under an open sky. He was also an enthusiastic golfer—though by his own admission, and according to those who loved to tease him, he struggled with a “counting disability” when it came to keeping score. His golf game may have been average, but his ability to bring laughter and friendship to every round was second to none.
Above all else, Greg was a devoted husband, loving father, proud father-in-law, cherished Papa and Great Papa, a caring brother, and a loyal friend. He was the quiet, steady leader of his family—a soft-spoken head of the household who taught not through words alone, but through the example he set every day. His guiding principles were simple and unwavering: God first, family first, and a strong work ethic in all things. These values became lessons that shaped generations.
Greg was a man of his word. If he made a promise, he kept it. If someone needed help, he was there. Friends, neighbors, family members, and even strangers knew they could count on him for support, guidance, or simply a listening ear. He never sought recognition for his kindness; helping others was simply who he was.
His love for his family was immeasurable and extended across every role he held—as husband, dad, father-in-law, Papa, Great Papa, brother, and friend. His presence made every gathering better. He had a gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Bany; his sons, Joseph Bany and James Bany; his daughter, Kimberly Bany; his brothers, James Bany and Stephan Bany; and his sister, Mary Brandt, along with extended family and many dear friends who were blessed to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anne Bany and Albert Bany.
The impact Greg made on the lives of those around him cannot be overstated. Gregory Bany leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who respected him, and a community made stronger by his presence. While his passing leaves an enormous void, the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared will live on in all who knew him.
He was a true blessing to be around, a friend to all, and a man who made everyone’s life better. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303, US, on June 14, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
