Harold Clayton Runkle

As a child Harold lived in Pennsylvania with his family before joining the United States Navy. While enlisted his ship traveled extensively to the Mediterranean.

Harold was a telephone cable splicer, and that career brought him to Texas to work for the Conroe Telephone Company where he met Sandra. The couple spent nearly 49 years together. The couple spent 10 years in Conroe before a short time spent in upstate New York before retiring to the Waco area.

Harold enjoyed riding his motorcycle. So much so that he completed the Iron Butt trek in 2007 from Texas to Pennsylvania. He and Sandra loved to travel. The couple traveled to Canada, most of the U.S. National Parks and to 48 states.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sandra Runkle, children Danny Standefer and wife Michele, Barry Johnson and wife Christy, grandchildren Shawn Johnson and wife Yasmin, Meghan Schmidt and husband Paul, Hannah Suchma and husband Charles, Jamie Johnson and fiancé Dylan, great grandchildren Rylynn Johnson, Harley Rose Johnson, Emma Johnson, Owen Johnson and one on the way, sisters Lois Runkle and Yvonne Tome. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Flo Bruggerman, Dean Runkle, Fayne Flood, Evelyn Fahringer and Delores Harlacher.

Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are planned for Monday, February 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home with burial to follow in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery.
