It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James J. Nix, a beloved father of three, son, brother, and friend, on Oct 11, 2023. Jim’s unexpected departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He was 49 years old.
Jim was born in Pittsburgh on May 27, 1974 and spent his early childhood years in Chicago, but home was unquestionably Pittsburgh, where they returned when Jim was ten years old. He graduated high school in Moon Township and attended the University of Pittsburgh. During those years, he developed strong ties with extended family there that endured through decades. He treasured and maintained those connections, as well as many school and college friendships, across the miles and years when he joined his immediate family in Houston after school.
In Houston, Jim took a job with Universal Computer Systems (UCS) and remained with the same organization, later Reynolds & Reynolds, throughout his entire career – a testament to his loyalty and his talent for forming close connections with his colleagues and clients that often grew into true friendships.
A dedicated father, Jim's love for his three children, Loren, Spencer, and Katie, was his biggest source of pride and joy. They were the center of his universe, and he loved spending time with them above all else. He was actively involved with their schools and activities, particularly with the Tomball Little League Association.
In addition to his family, Jim was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers – a passion he shared with friends and family, often gathering to watch games together. Those who knew him will likely remember him in Steeler black & gold or Pitt blue & gold.
No challenge he faced ever changed his warmth, humor, or loyalty to his friends and family. He was a supportive friend and a caring family member to everyone in his life.
In addition to his children, Jim is survived by his mother, Pat, and his sister, Lisa, along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe at 10 AM on November 4th, 2023.
