

James Clarence Proske, known to many as J.C., was born on April 24, 1941, in Houston, Texas, and passed away on November 17, 2025, in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 84. A resident of Willis, Texas, J.C. lived a life marked by dedication to family, work, and personal passions.
J.C. devoted over 30 years of his career to Southern Pacific Railroad, where he was known for his commitment and hard work. His professional life was complemented by a deep love for family. He was married to Faye Ellen Proske for 67 years before her passing in April of this year. Together, they built a family that was central to J.C.'s life and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Faye Ellen Proske; his son, James Michael Proske; his parents, Otto Robert Proske and Marie Proske; his sister, Carolyn Proske Cook; and his son-in-law, Vance Hardie.
J.C. is survived by his daughters, Belinda Hardie, Deborah Abernathy and her husband Earnest, Rebecca Pippin and her husband Randy, Karen Taylor, and Gina Kessler and her husband Derek. He was a loving grandfather to Jason Hardie, James Phillip Fetterhoff, Judy Fetterhoff, Louis Taylor III, James Robert Stalcup, Corey Thomas, Leon Taylor, Willard Fetterhoff, and Nicole Taylor, and is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Janice Allen and Linda Shoemaker.
In his personal time, J.C. enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing bingo, and cheering for the Astros. These hobbies brought him joy and relaxation, reflecting his zest for life and his appreciation for simple pleasures.
J.C.'s life was a testament to dedication, love, and enjoyment of the world around him. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
