James David Raulsten II was born on March 7, 1983 in Charleston, South Carolina to James and Marsha Raulsten. He was known to most people as David. He leaves behind his most beloved daughter, Riley Renee Raulsten of Corpus Christi TX, his parents James and Marsha Raulsten of Conroe TX, his sister and brother-in-law, Charla and Tye Taylor of Conroe, TX and his brother Donald Raulsten of Lemoore, CA along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Evelyn Lackman and paternal grandparents Jim and Lavonne Raulsten. He was a 2001 graduate of Gregory Portland High School in Portland TX. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in History and Master of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. David had a varied work career and made many friends along the way, most especially those from Hastings, Inc. and the Kroger store of Huntsville. David was passionate about his friends and co-workers. He wanted to make the people around him happy. He loved bad puns more than most; was extremely empathetic; and could bring a bright smile to the most disheartened. He shared his love of bad 80s horror movies with his sister, Charla, and a love of hot spicy foods with his brothers Donnie and Tye. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad, Jim, and could argue/talk about the value of measurements in cooking with his mom, Marsha, any day of the week. Friends of David were his friends for life. If he was able to see them on a regular basis or if there were many years in between, the conversation was always easy and comfortable. The most important person in his life though is his beautiful daughter Riley, who will miss him very much. A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors, Conroe, TX. A college education for Riley was important to David. Colleagues from the Kroger store have taken a lead in establishing a fund for this purpose. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute to Riley Raulsten’s College Fund may donate at the Bank of America in Conroe using the account's last four digits of 6410, with the Zelle app, through their mobile banking app, or through Metcalf Funeral Directors.
