Jan Ellen Craig Gregory, wife to William Andrew Gregory Jr. and mother to Rachel Gregory Wilson and grandmother to Rowan Hugh Wilson, passed away on June 19, 2026, due to complications surrounding her open heart surgery.
Jan will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. With a warm heart, thoughtful spirit, and genuine kindness, she welcomed everyone as family. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel loved, valued, and at home, whether through a listening ear, a thoughtful gesture, or simply her unwavering presence. More than anything, she will be remembered for the way she made people feel. She had a presence that brightened every room she entered. Strong in both character and conviction, she faced life’s challenges with remarkable resilience and determination. Those who knew her admired not only her strength but also her steadfast spirit and unwavering devotion to the people she loved.
Her greatest joy was her grandson, whom she loved deeply and took immense pride in. Her devotion to her family and her enthusiasm for supporting her LSU Tigers, never missing a chance to cheer them on with enthusiasm or to yell “Geaux Tigers,” reflect her loving and spirited nature, inspiring warmth and appreciation in those who knew her.
Jan’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating her life and to share in the love she freely gave. With a warm smile, a thoughtful heart, and an unwavering spirit, she made everyone feel like family through acts of kindness and consideration.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, James Hugh Craig Jr. and Mary Katherine Durbin Craig; her mother-in-law, Rita Marie Gregory; and her brother-in-law, Steven Francis Gregory. She leaves behind her husband, William Gregory, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel Gregory and Austin Wilson; grandson, Rowan Wilson; siblings, Jimmy & Celine Craig, and Kim & Clifford Jones. She leaves behind godchildren, nieces, nephews, and many more. She will be deeply missed and remembered for her legacy of love, generosity, strength, and grace.
