Janet was born on April 16, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she was raised on a farm by her mother and grandparents. Her early life shaped her into the strong, grounded, and hardworking woman she would become.
She was married for 24 years and later began a new chapter of her life at the age of 52, when she joined the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDC) as a prison guard. Janet served with dedication and integrity for 19 years, forming deep and lasting friendships with colleagues who became like family. Her commitment and resilience earned her the respect of all who worked alongside her.
Janet was known for her tireless work ethic, quiet strength, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence was a steady source of support, and she will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Romano, Deborah L. Mahon Aguilar and her husband Manuel; grandchildren, Michele Romano, Michael Romano, Shawna Mahon and her husband Chris Andress; great grandson, Ronin.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas.
