Jason William Mora, 54, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on August 10, 2026, his birthday, surrounded by the love of a family he spent his whole life building and protecting. Born on August 10, 1972, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Thomas Mora and Deanna Acker, Jason
grew up to become the kind of man people naturally gravitated toward; strong, charismatic, honest, and hardworking in everything he did.
Jason married the love of his life, Rhonda, on November 7, 1990, beginning a partnership that would anchor their family for over three decades. Jason and Rhonda grew up together before they raised their two sons, Colby, born March 20, 1991, and Dylan, born April 20, 1995, pouring into them the values of hard work, integrity, and devotion to family.
In 1991, Jason answered his country's call and joined the military, serving as a line corpsman for the U.S. Navy but companied with the Marines. His service took him to some of the most demanding places in the world, including Bosnia and Somalia, where he carried out his duty with courage and selflessness. He served honorably until 1996. At 34, Jason faced another battle when he underwent open heart surgery, a challenge he overcame with the same grit and determination that defined his character.
Jason loved the simple, good things in life. He was a dedicated football and baseball fan, a talented cook, and the driving force behind countless family projects and get-togethers. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his four grandchildren, who adored him right back.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Mora; sons, Colby Mora and Dylan Mora (Brittany Kocian); four beloved grandchildren, Brantley Mora, Maddox Mora, Seth Mora, and Oraya Mora; mother, Deanna Acker; father, Tom Mora (Debbie Mora); brothers, Billye Hlozek (Denise Hlozek), Daryl Broadway, and Joshua Mora (Kellie Mora); sister, Nikki Neal (Stephen Neal); five beloved nieces and nephews, Ambria Neal, Elliot Neal, Lenora Neal, Andrew Mora, and Raelynn Mora.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Bernice Tolar; maternal grandfather, Toxie Tolar; paternal grandmother, Trennie Mora, and paternal grandfather; J.W. Mora.
Devoted husband to one. Cherished to two. Wise and thoughtful to four. Loving and selfless to all.
May he rest in the peace and grace that his faith promised, knowing he gave everything he had to those he loved.
All gave some, some gave all.
Before Dylan left for the Navy, Jason passed along words he carried with him always: "Keep your nose clean, keep your powder dry, and listen for the call, corpsman up."
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 4:00 PM- 7:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas.
Services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas with Derwin Youngblood officiating.
Graveside services will follow in Hagen Cemetery in Crockett, Texas at 1:30 PM.
Pallbearers are Dylan Mora, Billye Hlozek, Joshua Mora, Chris King, James King, Walter Mason, Blake Mason, Trey Arnold, Tony Arieux, and Xander King.
