Jeane Alfred was born on September 3, 1938, in Kennard, Texas to parents Elzie Dryden and Beila Vedelia Alfred.
She graduated from Pasadena High School in Pasadena, Texas. She married her high school sweetheart James Allen “Jimmy” Wells on December 27, 1956. Jeane continued her education at Southwestern Business College. Upon completion of her studies, Jeane joined Humble Oil and Refining Company (later known as EXXON) as a Secretary and worked in this capacity until she retired in the early 1980s.
Jeane was widowed April 7, 1969.
Jeane married John Adrian “Jack” Crumpler on January 31, 1970, and became stepparent to Jack’s children; Julie (age 7½), Jill (age 6) and Jan (age 3½). In the early 1980s, Jeane and husband Jack bought the Casual Living furniture store in Conroe and subsequently opened a Casual Living in Kingwood. Jeane managed and worked in both stores. Jeane had an eye for design, interior decorating, and landscape design. She and Jack designed several homes and Jeane created beautiful interiors and lovely landscaping in all their homes. Jeane and Jack enjoyed traveling, including trips to Alaska, Puerto Vallarta, Virgin Islands and Egypt. Jeane and Jack were married for 39 years until his passing in 2009. Jeane was a long-time resident of Conroe, Texas where she was an active member of the Lone Star Bridge Club (achieving Bronze Life Master in 2011 and Silver Life Master in 2019) and of St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Jeane served in leadership positions in each organization. Jeane was an animal lover and always had one or two pets with adorable names: Ding, Hagar, Sherpa, Tigger, BoDo, Miss Priss, Kewpie and Pooh.
Jeane was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie and Beila Alfred; her husband, Jack Crumpler and her cousin, Crystal Price. Survivors include: sister, Trish White and her husband Mike; cousins, LaVonne Whiteside and her husband Johny; step daughters, Julie Little and her husband Laird, Jill van der Werff and her husband Gerard, Jan Nell and her husband Mike; step grandchildren, Willem van der Werf and his wife Alexis, Jonah van der Werff and his wife Caroline, Shelby Little, Ryan Little, Matthew Nell, Nicole Nell Resendez, Christina Nell Hammond and her husband Dillon; step great grandchildren, Nina and Leah Hammond and Alex Resendez, Maverick and Chloe van der Werff; nephews and niece, Gary White and his wife Michelle, Jeanie White Cravens and her husband Russell and Joshua White; and great nieces and nephews, Alec, Nicholas and Hailey White, Koby, Keaton, Pryce and Dryden Cravens.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Cashner Funeral Home, in Conroe, Texas with burial to follow at Old Zion Cemetery, in Kennard, Texas.
