Jeffrey Lynn Steindl was born in Monroe, Wisconsin on February 26, 1956 to Arthur Steindl and Phyllis (Gilbert) Steindl. Jeff passed away on June 11, 2024. He grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm and attended Orfordville Public School. After high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, graduating in May 1979. He was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity.
Having lived most of his life in rural Wisconsin, Jeff had a desire to travel to other countries and cultures. This led him to solely backpacking around Europe, sometimes working in vineyards to increase his shrinking funds.
On his return to Wisconsin, Jeff worked in a water softening business for a while but once again his wanderlust began. At this point in time the job market was pretty scarce in the Midwest so off he went to join friends who had taken jobs in the Houston, TX area. One by one his friends returned to Wisconsin when the job market improved but not Jeff. He fell in love with the warm weather and metropolitan living and made Texas his home.
Jeff began working in the hospitality business, first for Holiday Inn and then for Woodlands Country Club. While working for these businesses, he supervised many employees and was responsible the operation of banquets, restaurants and bars. He received many letters of recognition for his good judgement, work ethic and professionalism both from management and clients.
In 2000, Jeff changed jobs and began working for UPS. He enjoyed his work duties and his customers. It was noted by his customers that he often went out of his way to deliver the best possible services to them.
Jeff completed his working years as a manager at Whataburger.
During these years, Jeff married and became the father of two children, Joshua and Sarah, who he loved dearly. He also met and married his second wife, Emily. They both loved to travel and particularly loved visiting Alaska.
Although Texas was his adopted home, Jeff never lost his passion for Wisconsin sports teams. He loved watching the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers on television. He kept track of statistics and players on all NFL sports teams. He could tell you the names of players, the team they played for and their performance records. He had a terrific memory for all things sports.
Jeff was a compassionate person who often helped his neighbors and others, financially with gas or groceries. Jeff was an animal lover and took great delight in his cat, Sheba.
Jeff is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Steindl. He is survived by his wife Emily, his children, Joshua and Sarah, his mother, Phyllis Steindl, his sister, Wendy Williams (Tom), his sister Robin Seale (Larry), and his nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Jeff will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303.
