Jim Ferguson Stowe

Jim Ferguson Stowe was born on October 18, 1924 in Conroe, Texas to Jimmy and Leona Stowe and passed away on December 15, 2010 at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by brothers, James L. Stowe and George A. Stowe; sister, Norman D. Gregory; and son-in-law, Gus W. Derrick.

Jim married Wilma June Tinney on July 30, 1945 and they lived most of their lives in Conroe on the land where he was raised. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and always had an amazing story to tell to anyone willing to listen. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. Family and friends meant everything to Jim and he never missed an opportunity to make a new friend or lend a helping hand.

Jim worked proudly for Texaco in the oil fields of Conroe for 45 years. Upon retirement, Jim became a beekeeper and provided honey to many in the area. He was a member of the Montgomery County Beekeepers Association, where he never missed a meeting. He enjoyed sharing his love of bees and beekeeping and was a mentor to those new to the profession. One of his fondest memories was coming to his granddaughter’s classroom with his beehives and teaching the “young ‘uns” about bees. Jim was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Conroe and was recently honored as a 60 year member.

Mr. Stowe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Wilma June Stowe; daughter, Jo Nell Stowe Derrick; granddaughter, Angela Adair Poehl and husband Chris; and great grandchildren, Cassidy and Corbin Poehl. Other survivors included many nieces, nephews and special friends. Pallbearers are to include Christopher Poehl, George Stowe, Jeremy Fishback, Jim Noble, Jess Noble and Bull Jones.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, December 17, 2010 at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p. m. Services will be held in Cashner Colonial Chapel on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Interment in Garden Park Cemetery will follow the service.
