Joanne Obera Dillard passed away quietly on Friday, October 4, 2024, one day after her 80th birthday. Jody was born in Houston on October 3, 1944 to Margaret and David L. Dillard, Sr. She was a 1963 graduate of Jeff Davis High School and attended Stephen F. Austin State College in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was an active participant in Jeff Davis High School’s ROTC cadet program.
Jody retired from the Accounting Department of the Hughes Tool Company in Houston after 30 years then worked in the Records Division of the Texas Department of Corrections in Huntsville for 12 years.
An avid reader, Jody volunteered for many years at the New Waverly public library and participated in many of the library’s charity events. She also spent her life doing needle point and embroidery, skills she learned as a child from her mother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and David L. Dillard, Sr, brother, David L. Dillard, Jr. and her beloved dog, Herman.
Jody is survived by her sister, Helen, brothers, Jim and Russell, of Conroe and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 2:00pm in Cashner Colonial Chapel, 801 Teas, Rd, Conroe, Texas, 77303. Internment will take place at Conroe Memorial Park, 1600 Porter Road. Rev Dennis Mark, Chaplain, Three Oaks Hospice, officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity in Jody’s memory.
