Josephine was born on October 9, 1949 in Houston, Texas to Nelda Brown and Luke Rezzoffi. She was raised by her father and grew up in New Caney where they lived on a farm along with her two siblings, Danny and Regina. She attended and graduated high school in the area. Later in her life her father remarried to Louise and she then gained a step sister Cindie Haas.
Josephine married Jose Mendez and they had two children, Angela and Joel. She worked outside the home at different jobs, but then was a longtime employee at Everett’s True Value Hardware in Conroe. She worked in the lawn and garden department. That is where she found her love of plants and flowers. She also had a love of animals that stemmed from being raised on a farm, where they had many animals of all forms. While raising her kids they too had many different animals. Those included horses, rabbits, chicken of the domestic kind along with raccoons, possums and an albind skunk all while living inside the city limits. They also raised several breeds of dogs as well. There was never a time they didn’t have several types of animals.
As she left her time from the home, she moved in with a longtime friend that also lived on some land with horses and such. That is where she met the 2nd love her life.
Josephine and Terry Mixon met in 1986 and began their life together where she then acquired three stepchildren, Crystal, Nikki, and Sean. She began working from the home helping Terry with the business doing the bills; taking him to the different jobsites or also picking up parts he needed. Josephine still had a love for animals and on occasion raised and rehabilitated several woodland creatures they would find on the jobsites. She loved doing this but her most favorite animals were her dogs and Pomeranians were her most favorite. She had several Poms and LeRoy was her most precious Boy.
She loved not having to actually go to a real job and keeping herself busy helping Terry raise his kids and growing plants and flowers.
Josephine was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman who loved hard and cared deeply of others. She ruled her homes with a stern but loving hand, she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart. She will be deeply missed by all.
Josephine was preceded in death by her father, Luke and mother, Nelda, and step mother, Louise, both her brother, Danny and sister, Regina, along with a brother in law, Richard and step brother, Terry , son in law, Brad Harrison and a grandchildren Vinny Jr. May they all RIP.
