Kathie Dehne devoted wife and loving mother was called to our Lord on December 24th of 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathie was born December 26th of 1944 in Buffalo, New York. Her life was a symbol of faith, love, commitment and family.
Kathie is survived by the lifelong love of her life and devoted husband of over 61 years, Charles “Chuck” Dehne, and the family they so proudly built: their son Timothy Dehne and his wife Stacey, their daughter Tamara Herschmann and her husband Keith, and their son Troy Dehne. Kathie’s deep love of family was made stronger by her cherished 11 grandchildren: Drew Herschmann (Megan), Jacob Herschmann, Matthew Dehne, Catherine Dehne Grein (Tyler), Sean Dehne, Ashley Dehne, Ryan Clark, Brian Dehne, Adam Herschmann, Thomas Dehne, Senna Dehne, and 4 great grandchildren: Raegan Grein, Palmer Herschmann, Charles Herschmann, and Noah Grein.
Kathie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Minerva and Francis Hoctor and her brother Robert Hoctor. She is survived by her sister and best friend Diane (Gary) Sauer and her brother Kevin (Judy) Hoctor.
Kathie lived her life as a servant of God. She was an active member of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Parish since its inception, helping to raise funds for its construction. For many years, she served the community as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Kathie and Chuck moved their family to Spring, Texas in 1978, and remained in the home they purchased that year. That big move inspired many other family and friends to join them down in Texas.
Kathie began her “Puppy Love” with Chuck in junior high, were high school sweethearts, and married shortly after graduation. They made their first home in Lincoln Nebraska near the Air Force base where Chuck was stationed. Upon Chuck’s discharge, they returned to Buffalo, NY. They remain close with many of their childhood friends and Air Force friends to this day.
Bobs Lake in Canada, long tied to Kathie’s family history, was her most cherished place. The lake became a staple of family vacations surrounded by extended family and dear friends. She was able to make one final visit there this year.
Kathie enjoyed reading, daily crossword puzzles, card games, board games, her housework, and writing, especially her treasured Christmas letter written every year since 1979. Kathie and Chuck were able to see America in their beloved RV always going out of their way to visit with family and dear friends. They also enjoyed cruising in their 1966 convertible Corvette. Kathie had a fondness for owls and butterflies.
Kathie’s family will celebrate her life and her legacy of faith, family, and friendships with a Memorial Funeral at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Parish on Friday the 2nd of January 2026 at 10am with a reception immediately following. A private Rosary service will be held at 9:30am. If you choose to order flowers, please have them delivered directly to Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church (26777 Glen Loch Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77381).
