Kelly Wayne Adams, 52, of Pearland, Texas, an accomplished attorney, passed away on February 28th, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. He was beloved and respected by his family, friends, and colleagues for a life defined by deep intelligence, compassion, and integrity. Kelly was born in Freeport, Texas to Wayne and Gerry Adams on May 11, 1965. He graduated from Willis High School in 1983. He received a B.S. degree in Political Science from Sam Houston State University and a Juris Doctorate degree, Cum Laude, from South Texas College of Law in 2008. He authored an article Walking the Tightrope: Maintaining an Independent Judiciary and Protecting Judicial Free Speech in South Texas Law Review journal. Kelly has been known for his ability to perform at the highest level of service and professionalism. While in law school, he served as a law clerk for Judge Jeffery V. Brown of the 55th District Court for Harris County, Texas. He gained his knowledge and experience in areas including litigation, management, and tort law from his father, Wayne Adams, and from working at international law firms, such as Baker Botts LLP and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Most recently he served as Attorney Liaison/Commercial Case Development at Thomas J. Henry Injury Attorneys. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and was valued as a deeply thoughtful mentor and advisor to many colleagues and friends.
Kelly was an extraordinarily giving person who was considerate and respectful of all those he came into contact with. He served his community as well as his country by serving formerly in the United States Army Reserves’ 449th Engineering Detachment and by volunteering for Catholic Charities and Houston Volunteer Lawyers. He had a notable sense of humor and his laugh was contagious. Kelly was an active member and friend of Bill W. for 23 years where he inspired many people with his testimony of perseverance. In his free time, Kelly enjoyed traveling the world with his loving wife, photography, container gardening, and auctions. He will be missed by so many family and friends that are left behind, but Kelly accepted Jesus as his savior at a bible camp when he was young. Our faith assures us that while we miss him now, we will be reunited with him once again. Kelly is survived by his loving wife, Alla Adams (and her daughter, Yulia Doroshenko) of Pearland, Texas; his parents, Wayne and Gerry Adams of Willis, Texas; his mother-in-law, Faina Polovinko of Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic; his sister, Terri Coleman (and her husband, Bill) of Willis, Texas; his nieces and nephew, Laura Beth Pleasant (and her husband, Brian, and son, Jaxon) of Lubbock, Texas, Jamie Robertson of Conroe, Texas, and Daniel Robertson (and his wife, Lauren) of Conroe, Texas; his closest cousin, Randy Sifford of Plano, Texas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The funeral service will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas on Saturday, March 10th at 10 am with Reverend James Featherstone of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Kelly’s name to the Lone Survivor Foundation, 2636 S Loop West, Suite 280, Houston, Texas 77054.
