Kevin was a strong, proud, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved his family very much and worked several jobs at a time to make sure they had the very best he could give them. He was a very dedicated law enforcement officer. Kevin graduated from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Police Academy in 1986 and continued a 34-year career in law enforcement until his death. Kevin’s career in law enforcement led him to numerous agencies in the Montgomery County area, and he continued all these years to serve his community. For the past 23 years, he has been a proud officer with the Lone Star College Police Department.
From a young age, Kevin loved singing and playing music on his guitars. (He acquired quite the collection.) He had a unique ability to imitate singers such as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and many others. He was in several bands with family and friends and won talent shows and fans over the years.
Kevin had a great love for collectable vehicles such as his 1968 Camaro SS and his 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Collector’s Edition Pace Car. He loved working on cars in his spare time.
Kevin also enjoyed spending time with his family by going to Sea World San Antonio and the San Antonio Zoo. He enjoyed doing so many different things such as fishing, hunting, crafting, and more. .
Kevin could navigate any situation with ease and excelled at anything he put his mind to. He was truly one of a kind! He loved making jokes and telling many endless stories. He was very loved by all who knew him, especially his family, close friends, and colleagues. He will be so very dearly missed and, in our hearts, forever.
Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth D. Swatzel, and his mother, Emma C. Swatzel. He is survived by his wife; Barbara, daughters; Stacey and Samantha, “adopted” daughter; Breanna Smith, grandson; Oliver Anderson, sisters; Nancy and Spouse, Dottie, Jeanette, and Sally and Spouse, brothers; Kenny and Keith and Spouses, 2 uncles, 2 aunts, and numerous other family members and friends.
There will be a visitation prior to the Celebration of Life at the Lake Church, 1701 McCaleb Road North, Montgomery, Texas 77356, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm with the Celebration of Life Service following at 1:00pm. Interment will be held at Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303 following the service.
