Larry Allen Rigsby, known by his friends as Larry and Dad, and Paw Paw, was a man who enjoyed life. He always showed love to his beloved wife, Nell, and all his children. He joined the service in March 23, 1965 to May 15, 1970. He served in Vietnam with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st BN, 22nd Inf., 4th Infantry Division. There he received a purple heart with oak leaf cluster. After his tour in Vietnam, he was transferred to Baumholder, Germany until his discharge.
He married Nell Volesky on September 2, 1983. They enjoyed many years of bliss and love. He worked as a tour bus driver for many years and many, many friends between Snoop Dog to Dolly Parton and George Thorogood and Destiny's Child and many other artists. He was known as the Chicken Man. His CB handles were "Possum Snot" and "Papa Smurf" on the road. As a true West Virginia "hillbilly," he loved to dress in just overalls no shirt, no shoes and sipping Moonshine on the front porch.
A funeral service for Larry will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Garden Park Cemetery, 801 Teas Rd, Conroe, TX 77303.
