Lecia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love for her family was evident in everything she did. She shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Roger Garvey. She was a proud and loving mother to her daughter, Miranda Hahs and husband Paul, and her son, Joshua Garvey and wife Christy.
Her greatest joy was being “Nana” and “Kiki” to her grandchildren, Gavin, Colt, Addilyn, PJ, Chrissy, Kyndell, and Kaylen, whom she adored beyond measure. Lecia was also a cherished sister, daughter, and “Aunt Lecia” to many nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved as her own.
Known for her strong will and headstrong nature, Lecia was equally loving, generous, and welcoming. She had a gift for making everyone feel at home and brought warmth and laughter wherever she went. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life; feeding birds and raccoons, making her world famous sweet tea, celebrating holidays, riding her signature three wheel bike, and spending time playing poker and Rummikub. She also loved boating, camping, and making lasting memories while living life to the fullest with her brothers.
Lecia was preceded in death by her father, Clinton Oliver Tunning; her mother, Edith Chowning; her Daddy, Larry Chowning; her father-in-law, Gerry Garvey; her mother-in-law, Helen Garvey; and her brothers, Fred Tunning and Terry Tunning.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Roger Garvey; her children, Miranda Hahs (Paul) and Joshua Garvey (Christy); her beloved grandchildren; her sister, Judy Jackson; her brother, Clint Tunning; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lecia faced a short but fierce battle with cancer, showing strength and resilience until the very end. She never stopped fighting until the moment Jesus carried her home.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved her.
