Graveside services for Lois Anne Joslin, age 77, of Conroe will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Cliff Herrington officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home.
On May 22, 2011, Lois went home to heaven to receive a new and glorified body after a lengthy illness. She was born December 16, 1933, on the Fetters’ prairie farm in Morrill County in Nebraska to Raymond Harlo Fetters and Olga Anne Corita Fetters. She was the second of three daughters. She was educated in a one room school until she attended high school in Bridgeport, Nebraska and graduated from high school in Oshkosh, Nebraska in 1951. She married Charles Joslin and traveled with the Mobil Oil Corporation, living in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas. Charles and Lois had four children, Di Anne in 1951, Laurie 1953, Mike 1955 and Leslie 1957. Finally, after moving to 6 states and 35 homes, they settled in Conroe, Texas in 1966.
She established the family home and family church, the First Christian Church. Lois was always involved in the school activities of her children as well as many church functions, such as being an active member of Christian Women’s Fellowship, teaching Bible school, visiting the ill and providing food and clothing for the needy. She always said if you need money, then give money to the church. If you are poor or hungry, go feed a family and rewards will come later. She collected books, antiques and china and loved working on family photos and growing African violets. Lois loved reading and writing and recording family ancestry. After her husband passed away in 1984, she took the family company and made it grow and established her life around the family business and her grandsons. She made sure the family business would be carried on by children and grandsons. She was proud to say she went from poverty on the farm in Nebraska to wealth in Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ted and Donna Cranmore; her son, Charles Michael (Mike) Joslin in 1974; and her husband Charles Meridith (Charlie) Joslin in 1984. Lois is survived by three daughters, Di Anne Joslin Semands and husband Martin of Montgomery, Texas, Laurie Joslin of Pasadena, Texas and Leslie Joslin of Conroe, Texas. She is also survived by former son-in-law, Cyrus Lipe of Willis, Texas; and a sister, Neva Kimmerling of Gillette, Wyoming. She was “Mother” to her two special grandsons, Cyrus Brandon Lipe and wife Misti of Huntsville, Texas and Camdon Joslin Lipe of Conroe, Texas. She has one great granddaughter, Shelby Lynn Semands. In Nebraska, she has a host of relatives and friends and two special nephews, Raymond Joe and Zane Cranmore of Broadwater and Cousin Elden Fetters of Lisco. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of C.M. Joslin Company, Inc. She will be missed, but could not find the strength to stay.
