Manuel Barrera Ruiz

Manuel Barrera Ruiz, 81 of Tamaulipas, Mexico passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, in The Woodlands, Texas leaving behind a legacy full of love, pride, loyalty, kindness to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Manuel was and will continue to be through his legacy a loving, proud, loyal, resilient, hardworking soul that could always be counted on by his beloved family that he was mostly proud of and that were his biggest accomplishment in life.

Manuel was born and raised in Los Guerra, Tamaulipas, Mexico on September 17, 1944, and was the youngest of eight children. He was nicknamed “El Coyote” meaning the youngest, as a term of endearment in Spanish.

Manuel from an early age discovered his love for horses and was a true cowboy and always dressed the part and lived up to it. You would never catch him without his cowboy hat and boots that he always wore with pride. Also, at an early age discovered his passion for cars so much so that the majority of pictures of his youth were alongside cars or trucks and his relaxed and cool demeanor resonated through these photos that tell a story. His free-spirited adventurous soul has earned him a life full of wisdom that made him a great storyteller with great charisma and sense of humor.

He told stories with such conviction that it made one feel as if you were there and transported back in time.

Manuel’s work ethic was unmatched and no task or challenge at hand proved to be too hard and was never left undone. He never waited until tomorrow to get something done. He completed everything with precision and full dedication, whether it was the time he spent in California in his youth into adulthood working in agriculture to construction, he did it with dignity, pride and resilience.

Though he will be deeply missed, the love and devotion he gave to those whose lives he touched will continue to live through his spirit and essence that he leaves behind.

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; Mauricio and Faustina Barrera, his beloved daughter; Veronica Barrera Sarabia, granddaughter; Amanda Anahie Barrera, brothers and sisters; Franciso Barrera, Bertha Guerra, Maria De Jesus Hinojosa, Alvaro Barrera, Mauricio Barrera, and Anastacia Garza.

He is survived by his loving wife Severa Barrera, sister Imelda Navarro, his children; Manuel Martin Barrera, Lesvia Barrera Garcia, Sandra Dominga Barrera Franco, Mauricio Barrera, his grandkids; Marco Antonio Garcia, Jr., Vanessa Anahis Salinas, Denise De La Cerda, Natalie Nicole Reyna Garcia, Marianela Sarabia, Rene De La Cerda, Jr., Sergio Sarabia, Jr., Luis Manuel De La Cerda, Emily Marie Garcia, Matthew Ray Garcia, Emme Ruby De La Cerda, his great grandkids; Melody Rose Gallaga, Evalynn Grace Bazan, Veronica Salinas, Emma Rose Garcia, Rodolfo Reyna V, Elena Mae Esquivel, Macie Leah Garcia, Genevive Olivia De La Cerda, his son-in-laws; Ruben Franco Jr., Renulfo Garcia, and Sergio Sarabia.

His Family will forever carry his memory in their hearts and will continue to honor and give thanks for the years they were blessed and honored to have him.
