Margaret Ann (Easterly) Fogarty passed away on August 9, 2022, at the age of 85 in the home of her youngest daughter, Patricia Ann Harper. Peggy was born May 2, 1937, the daughter of the late Robert A. Easterly and Alice E. (Smith) Easterly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas Nilan Fogarty on July 7, 2008 and by oldest son, Michael Shawn Fogarty on June 10, 2022. Husband, Tom, a Ph.D. Metallurgical and Material Science engineer, and Peggy, a registered nurse, married in October of 1958 and made their home and raised five children in Allentown, Pennsylvania. In 1979, Tom became an AT&T Visiting Professor of Engineering in Texas and by 1981, most of the Fogarty family had relocated to the Houston area. Tom pursued many prestigious opportunities in both research and teaching graduate engineering, while Peggy continued as Mom, nurse, engineering assistant and all around right arm to the Fogarty family. In 2014, Peggy moved to Montgomery, Texas with daughter Patty and her husband Gregory Harper where she continued to make many friends and enjoy spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended family.
Peggy grew up in Phillipsburg, New Jersey with her parents and younger sister, Mary Alice “Molly” (Easterly) Kern, aka ‘Easter Bunny Two’. She graduated from Saints Philip and James Catholic High School in 1955, after being crowned as May Queen in May, 1954. She graduated from Sacred Heart School of Nursing with her RN in 1958 and married Tom in October 1958. Peggy and Tom were both faithful Catholics, Cursillistas and active Church volunteers throughout their lives.
Survivors include sister Molly and husband Dr. Robert Kern of Easton, Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law, Brenda Fogarty, daughter, Dr. Mary Beth and husband Dr. Kelly Felty, daughter Kathleen and husband, Mark Henderson, son, Kevin Fogarty and wife Tracy, daughter Patty and husband, Gregory Harper. She is survived by twelve grandchildren, Nicholas Fogarty, Jackson Felty and wife Miranda, Sarah (Felty) Rivero and husband Leo, Michael Felty and girlfriend Alayna Herod, Rebecca (Henderson) and husband Rev. Peter Torres, Rev. Christopher Henderson and wife Katy, Heather Blackburn, Shelby (Fogarty) Dillinger and husband Matthew, Brady Fogarty, Ryan Fogarty, Andrew Harper and wife Rebecca, Alex Harper and wife, Dajah. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren; Victor Fogarty, Levi, Weston and Brooks Torres, Ethan and Riley Whalen, Shane and Caden Kershner, Kylie Austin, Brayan Blackburn, Kaysen Dillinger, Everlee and Halle Harper. Five nieces and nephews and their families and many dear cousins also survive.
A visitation for Margaret will be held, Monday, August 15, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 10:30 AM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8227 County Road, 205, Plantersville, Texas 77363.
