Maria, mom, Mema Shelton was born in Mexico City, Mexico, D.F. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 6, 2020. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her loving Husband, Sylvester P. Shelton. Her loving grandson, Nicholas Ryan Daniel, her parents, Ricardo and Soledad Martinez Olalde (Mama Cholita) Patchen and ten of her siblings all of Mexico City, Mexico, D.F.
Mom, Mema is survived by her son, Sylvester Richard (Ricky) Shelton and Wife, Regina, her daughter, Patricia (Patty) Shelton Boudreaux and her husband, Arnold. Her son, Silas Edward Shelton and Heather Terhune.
Mom, Mema and her loving husband met and were married in Mexico City, Mexico. D.F. She came to the U.S. in 1949 and then became a United States Citizen. She always said she was the luckiest person in the world because she had two countries she loved so much!
She was a wonderful wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and even went on to become a great career woman making a great life for us after the passing of her beloved husband who she remained completely devoted to until she went to meet him again.
Mom, Mema loved to cook for her family. She loved sewing, exercising, working in the yard, riding her bicycle and playing badminton with her children until she was no longer able to do so. Her most favorite enjoyment was her deep Faith in Our Lord and being with her children and grandchildren and laughing at everything and yet nothing!!! We miss you so much!!
She is survived by her six grandchildren, Richard (Ricky) Shelton and London, Wendye Shelton Ray and Sebastian, Phillip Daniel and Jennifer, Sarah Shelton, Rachel Shelton, Christopher Shelton; great-grandchildren Courtney Shelton Alba, Jaxen Ray, Daisey Ray, Julianna Daniel, Alaina Daniel, Meredith Daniel; great-great-grandchildren Alijah Alba, Amalia (Millie) Alba, Adahlia (Dollie) Alba. All are from the Houston-Harris County, Conroe, Magnolia, Montgomery County, Texas areas. She also has one surviving sister Theresa (Tere) of Mexico City, Mexico D.F and numerous nieces and nephews in Mexico City, Mexico. D.F. Mom, you are forever in our hearts. We love you and miss you so much! A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors.
