Beth was born on May 12, 1927, on the farm in Kelton, Tx. She was the youngest of seven children born to James Edward and Albertine Roberta (Glenn) Neeley. She and her family moved to Lamesa when she was very young. She attended elementary and secondary school in Lamesa, and attended Texas Tech University, graduating with a BS in Home Economics. While at Tech, she met and fell in love with Herman High. They married on August 17, 1951, and soon bought a little house in Midland where Herman worked with an oil company. Beth was a stay-at-home mom who was very busy raising the three children.
She first came to know Jesus as her Personal Savior at Bellview Baptist Church in Midland. Beth was baptized there and invested her life in serving Christ thru the ministries of the church. Beth served her Lord faithfully…tithing, praying, visiting new families and engaging socially with those families. They managed to find a bridge group and a domino group in all five churches they attended. Beth lived in Midland, Casper, Wyoming, Houston and Conroe.
Beth was a charter member at West Conroe Baptist Church. Beth helped found the In Touch Ministry (visiting shut-ins) at WCBC. In her last year, Beth became a recipient of this sweet ministry. She was, also, a greeter at the church, and never failed to have a big smile and a handshake for all who walked past her. Her greeting position was very important to her.
Beth has varied interests… reading, gardening (indoor and outdoor), playing bridge and china painting. She spent many hours over her latest project, working to paint that bird, butterfly or flower on her china. She even bought her own kiln!
She loved music so much that she encouraged all three children to take lessons in piano and voice. She would glow when her children sang or performed. At her memory care unit she became the “entertainer."
Beth is survived by her children, Debbie Sullins (Rick), Connie Baker (Ken) and Don High. She is survived by three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann “Lisa” Woodroof (James), Dan Sullins (Nellie) and Kristin Elizabeth Baker. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Betty Neeley and numerous nieces and nephews.
