

Martin Stephen Ellis, 74, of Houston, Texas was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 21, 2017 at Nexus Specialty Hospital, after an extended and valiant battle with COPD. He was born in Port Huron, Michigan on April 4, 1943 to parents Clinton and Mary Ellis. He was a graduate of Port Huron High School and former owner The Manor in Port Huron, Michigan.
Through the years, Martin was a diversified and successful businessman, owning several area assisted-living centers, as well as various other small businesses. Martin eventually moved to the Houston area where he was involved in housing development.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Norman Ellis, sister, Norma J. Drennan and his daughter, Lynn Ellis. He is survived by his long-time companion and friend, Bethine Smith of Houston, TX, his sons, Stephen (Regina) Ellis of Campobello, SC, Joseph Ray Ellis of Port Huron, MI and daughter Amy (John) Ellis-Nurmikko of Indiana. He is also survived by grandchildren, Joseph Ellis (Leah Galewski), Christopher Ellis (Arena), Eric Ellis, Kyle Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Dustin Cook, Dillon Cook, Michael Ellis, Lauren Smith (Chris), Max Nurmikko, Henry Nurmikko, and Nick Nurmikko; great-grandchildren, Maleigh Ellis, Preston Ellis, Mason Smith, Erynn Smith, Hayden Smith, Greyson, Ellis, and his extended Houston family.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11:00am at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery. A reception will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home following the service.
