Mary Catheryn Budde

October 23, 1930 – April 6, 2021
Obituary of Mary Catheryn Budde
IN THE CARE OF

Metcalf Funeral Directors

Mary Catheryn Sweaks Budde, our beloved mom, grandma, and friend went home to Heaven on April 6, 2021, she was 90 years old. Mary was born on October 23, 1930 to Harry Sweaks and Daliah Mae Gray in Somerville, Texas.

She grew up in Conroe. In high school, she played basketball and was a cheerleader for Conroe High School. She was a member of Conroe High School class of 1949. She married the love of her life, Bobby Budde, on August 27, 1949. Bobby and Mary shared 67 years of marriage. Together they raised 3 children, traveled, were active members of their church, enjoyed trips to their favorite lake every summer, and spent time with children and grandchildren at their family farm. Mary loved people, and was often found visiting with friends or cooking for company to come over to her house. In recent years, she still went to town every Friday to see her friends at various businesses in Conroe.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bobby.

She is survived by her children, Suzanne Self and husband Mike of Fredricksburg. Her Son Robert "Bobby" Budde of San Marcos, and her son Jeffrey Budde and wife Holly of Conroe. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Michael Self and wife Carey, Mark Self and wife Amanda, Ashley Spain and Husband Chris, Matthew Self and wife Kacie, Tyler Budde, Lindsey Budde, Emily Palacios, and Taylor Budde. And 5 great grandchildren she adored, Mason Self, Lainey Self, Callen Self, Miles Self, and Lucas Spain. One special niece, Elizabeth Averill of Scotland, UK., along with a host of extended family and friends who will also miss her.

Mary left a precious mark on all of our hearts. Although we know there was a joyous reunion in Heaven, we will certainly miss her here with us.

Mary's life will be celebrated in a private family memorial in accordance to her wishes. We would like to thank Special friends Amila, Connie, and Verna for your care and the friendships you shared with Mary. Our family is thankful for everyone for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers during our time of tremendous loss.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to one of Mary’s favorite charities; St.Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Salvation Army. You may also simply plant a flower in her memory as she loved all flowers and her yard was always blooming.
