Geneva Maxine Tolbert Trigleth, born on September 19, 1926, passed away on April 21, 2019 at the age of 92. She transitioned peacefully in her sleep from this life into her new wonderful eternal adventure with the Lord.
Maxine was born and raised in Southern Illinois on a small farm near Flora. She attended High School there and dedicated her life to God as a teenager. Once graduated she attended Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, and met the love of her life, M. E. “Bud” Trigleth who hailed from Mississippi. In 1947 they became engaged and in March of 1948 they were married in an Easter sunrise ceremony on her parent’s farm.
Completely opposite in their personalities, they complimented each other and were able to accomplish the Lord’s plans for them because their common core was to serve God and others sacrificially. Very active in their home church, they loved to serve and interact with their friends. They shared a love for music and supported each other’s talent for use in their church home. Bud loved to lead worship and Maxine was a soloist.
Maxine was a prolific writer and had many articles, poems, prose and stories printed in magazines and newsletters. She had a gift for writing, having the ability to find interest and beauty in even common situations and events. Her storytelling ability was inherited from her grandfather, Pop Cash, who could weave a thrilling tale from practically any event.
Though she enjoyed music, writing, drawing and other artistic endeavors, her primary love was her family. She dedicated her life to Bud and the three children, Jan, Harry and Cheryl and considered the position of wife and mother as her greatest achievement and her ultimate best investment.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bud Trigleth, her son, Harry Trigleth and her daughter, Cheryl Trigleth Harris, along with her father and mother, Harry O. Tolbert and Zula Cash Tolbert, her brother, George Tolbert and her sister Erma Tolbert Tolliver. Survived by her daughter, Jan Trigleth, grandchildren, Linda Beard, Chad Bohm, Whitney Trigleth, Joshua Harris and Ethan Harris, and nephews, Steve Tolbert, Michael Trigleth, Kenneth Watkins, Frank Chisolm and Don Buehler, and nieces, Reba Barlow, Myra McWhirt, Linda Read and Jane Taylor.
