

Mike was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois and graduated from Klein High School in 1980.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance at BYU in 1985. He accepted a position as a Field Insurance Adjuster at Prudential which later merged with Liberty Mutual.
Mike is the fourth out of five sons born to Donald Robert Butts and Deanna Kay Erickson.
Michael had four children with his first wife of 13 years and seven grandchildren. Michael remarried for another 14 years which added three stepsons, and two more grandchildren.
Mike enjoyed coaching his kids in little league sports including baseball, basketball and football. He was known as a favorite, fun, winning coach to many in The Woodlands area with his knowledge and enthusiasm. He enjoyed playing, coaching and watching sports but what he enjoyed most was playing with his children. He was often seen in a perpetual game of front yard ball with them and the neighborhood kids.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Donald Robert Butts and his beloved nephew Kevin Butts.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Debi Burden, daughter Stephanie Butts Petersen, son Eric Butts, son Ryan Butts, daughter Tori Butts Brown and stepsons Mathew Burden, Blaine Burden and Blair Burden. Son-in-laws Jeff Petersen and Mitch Brown. Daughter-in-law Patricia Edward Burden.
Mother Deanna Butts, brothers Bob Butts, Jim Butts, Tom Butts and Ken Butts. Sister-in-laws Lisa Butts, Christetta Butts, Lorraine Doherty and Jennifer Lester. Brother-in-laws David Doherty and Rick Lester.
Grandchildren Dallin Petersen, Alyssa Petersen, Brooke Petersen, Callie Petersen, Henry Butts, Thomas Butts, Jordan Brown, Ava Burden and Kash Burden.
Nephews Kenny Butts, Jimmy Butts, Ricky Lester, and Dillon Doherty. Nieces Sara Butts Stewart, Kaylie Butts Nicolini, Logan Lester Tefelski and Madi Lester Fairchild.
Uncle Jim Erickson and wife Kim Erickson. Father-in-law and mother-in-law Dennis and Janice Doherty. Cousins Leif Erickson and Tor Erickson and theirs and others extended families.
Mike had a joyful giving spirit and enjoyed helping anyone in need. He naturally woke up happy with amazing energy and was a great man that everyone could count on. He loved to be at the beach and was able to visit many beautiful ones on vacations.
His ashes will be scattered on his favorite beach in Hawaii, on what would have been his fifteenth wedding anniversary, in September, where he and Debi spent their first anniversary.
