a courageous fight against cancer. Mike was born on January 31, 1955, in Odessa,
Texas, as the second son of Bill and Patricia Carter. His family moved to Conroe in
1968, where he continued to reside most of his adult life. Mike was a graduate of
Conroe High School and attended the University of Texas.
Mike was known for his strong work ethic, his personal integrity and his deep loyalty
to his family and friends. He began his business career while still in high school as the
co-owner of the local Charles Chips delivery franchise he operated with his younger
brother, Mark. Mike built on those experiences as a salesman to launch his life-long
career in the industrial construction field where he achieved many years of success,
managing projects both domestic and abroad.
Mike enjoyed playing golf, hunting the outdoors and endlessly traveling the Texas
highways. He was always up for an adventure as long as he was behind the wheel.
Mike recently traveled to the Texas coast to spend time with family and take in the
beauty of the Gulf. Mike was soft-spoken but could pull off some of the best practical
jokes, particularly those that involved farm animals anonymously left in the backyards
of family members. He will be fondly remembered by his friends as “one of the good
guys.”
Mike’s greatest joys were his children. He is survived by his son and best friend, Cole
and his daughters, Rita, Sarah and Rose as well as Luke Martin and Brandi Herrera.
His larger family includes grandchildren, loving brothers and sisters, their spouses and
children, aunts, cousins and dear friends. Because Mike was a man of faith, we look
forward to a sweet reunion with him in heaven. Until then, we know he is smiling and
watching over us.
A memorial service for Mike will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018, at 12:30pm,
