Mildred “Maudie” Maurine Byrd, 86, of Conroe, Texas, went to be with her savior on Saturday, February 19, 2011. She was preceded by her loving husband Jim Davis Byrd; parents A.D. and Ella Skidmore; brothers Darrell and Donald Skidmore; sisters Winnie Glaze and Mary Hager. Maudie is survived by her sons James Byrd and wife Martha, Rick Byrd and wife Amy and Rev. Tim Byrd and wife Teena; daughter Betty Ward and husband Tommy; brother James Douglas Skidmore; grandchildren Gina Waller and husband Chris, Jaime Groff and husband Brian, Ryan Byrd and Lindsey Wall and husband Kody; two very special great-grandchildren Avery and Cole Waller and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. She was a devoted Christian and charter member of West Conroe Baptist Church where she faithfully served. Her life evolved around the love she had for her family. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 21, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Cashner Funeral Home in the Cashner Colonial Chapel with a private family burial to follow.
