Mildred Ellen Whaley

Mildred Ellen “Millie” Whaley passed away peacefully at home June 4, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Born in San Diego California on December 23, 1934 to Thomas Prendergast and Mildred Kloss. Millie was raised in San Diego, California and graduated from Grossmont-Helix High School.

She met her husband of 43 years, Ken, in San Diego while he was serving in the Navy. After his Navy career, Millie and Ken moved to Texas where they raised their four children. Millie retired from Conroe ISD where she worked in administration for over 20 years. With a lifelong heart for helping and serving others, Millie was always involved in volunteer positions in numerous Montgomery County organizations. Some of these include Conroe Regional Hospital Auxiliary, where she received the First Award twice for volunteer of the year, Montgomery County Assistance League, Retired Teachers Assoc.. Pan American Club, Grace Lutheran Church, First Methodist Church… She also spent time reading to elementary school children at Sam Houston Elementary in Conroe. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ken and by her loving companion Bill Knapp as well as her son Craig Whaley.  She is loved and survived by her children Ken Whaley Jr and wife Kim, daughter Cindy Olivieri and husband Anthony, and son Tom Whaley and wife Kim, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Private family burial will take place at a later date.
