A Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend
Moises was a humble man with the courage of a lion, a heart that gave without measure, and a spirit that brought light and laughter wherever he went. He was a man of deep faith, unwavering loyalty, extraordinary patience, and a generosity that knew no bounds. He gave more than he had, not for recognition or praise, but simply because seeing others happy brought him joy.
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on July 8, 1953, Moises moved to California at the age of 18, where he spent most of his life building a family, making memories, and creating a lifetime of love. Some of the family's fondest memories were made outdoors, spending time at the beach, exploring the mountains, and playing together at the park. These simple moments became treasured pieces of a life built around family, laughter, and togetherness. More recently, he returned to Texas with his family and made his home in Conroe, Texas.
For 51 years, Moises shared his life with his beloved wife, Elvia. Together, they built a family and a lifetime of memories rooted in love, commitment, and perseverance. He adored his two daughters, Elizabeth and Priscilla, his grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, his extended family, and his dear friends. His love for his family ran deeper than words could ever express. And if he could love a stranger so generously, there are no words sufficient to describe how deeply he loved his own family.
Moises had a remarkable gift for bringing joy into everyday life. He was lighthearted, quick-witted, and wonderfully sarcastic. Everything could become a joke, and he had a way of looking at life through a positive lens, even when circumstances were difficult. When asked how he was doing, his familiar response was, “I'm living the life of the rich and the famous.” It was classic Daddy, funny, playful, and never missing an opportunity to make someone smile. His humor was a gift, his laughter was contagious, and his presence brought light into the lives of those around him. He truly was a light to the world.
His love for God was evident in the way he treated people. Moises possessed a remarkable gift from God: the ability to see beyond the surface and understand the struggles within the human heart. He could recognize when someone was hurting and offer the wisdom, encouragement, or spiritual guidance they needed. He helped people find hope, draw closer to God, and see a path toward healing and a better future. He did not need recognition for the good he did; his life was his testimony.
The biblical name Moses, means “drawn out of the water.” There is something especially beautiful about reflecting on that story alongside the life our daddy lived. Moses was called by God to lead His people, and our dad Moises had a gift for helping draw people closer to God, guiding wounded hearts toward healing, and reminding others that there was always hope. He didn't just help repair what was broken; he helped people find their way toward wholeness through God's love.
That same patience and determination could be seen in everything he did. Whether he was working on his cars, navigating the challenges of his health, or caring for his home, he would take the time to understand a problem and patiently find a solution. He loved fixing things, and he rarely gave up when something needed attention. He approached people with that same perseverance, understanding that healing takes time, compassion, and love.
Moises found happiness in life's simple blessings. He loved the ocean, a good cup of coffee, animals, music, and a good movie. He loved God, Family, and Country. He took pride in keeping his home beautiful and especially loved preparing for Christmas. Decorating a live Christmas tree, filling the house with Christmas music, and surrounding the home with beautiful lights brought him so much joy. He knew how to make a holiday feel special, and ordinary moments feel like something worth celebrating.
In his final years, Moises faced several health challenges, enduring pain and difficulties that tested his strength. Yet he continued to fight, finding the courage to push through because he wanted more time with his beloved family. His determination to remain present with the people he loved was one of the greatest expressions of his devotion. His bravery was extraordinary, greater than we could ever fully comprehend. He showed us what it means to persevere, to keep going when life is hard, and to treasure every moment with the people who matter most.
Moises leaves behind a legacy far greater than possessions or accomplishments. His legacy lives in the hearts he helped heal, the people he encouraged, the laughter he shared, the wisdom he offered, and the countless acts of kindness he gave without expecting anything in return. It lives in every person who was blessed to know him.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we are grateful for the life God allowed us to share with him. We will remember his generous heart, his lionhearted courage, his playful spirit, his unwavering faith, and his remarkable ability to find light even in difficult times. We will honor him by loving as he loved, giving as he gave, laughing often, standing firm in our faith, and extending kindness even to strangers.
Daddy, you spent your life fixing what was broken, bringing laughter into ordinary moments, helping hurting hearts find their way, and drawing people closer to God. You gave more than you had, fought harder than we ever knew, and loved us so deeply that you kept going through pain just to have more time by our side. You were our strength, our laughter, our light, and one of God's greatest gifts to our family. We will carry your love with us in every sunrise over the ocean, every cup of coffee, every Christmas light, every shared laugh, and every act of kindness. Your earthly journey is complete, but your light will never go out in the hearts of those who love you. Until we meet again in heaven, Daddy, you will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever a part of us.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
