Nancy Chambers

Nancy was born in Norman, OK on November 24, 1946 to the parents of Alta B. and William H. Lakey. After attending school in Ardmore, OK, Nancy and David Chambers met, married and Nancy devoted her life to raising her three kids while living in Denmark, Germany, Norway (where their youngest was born), The Netherlands and then finally settling in Conroe for the last 50 years. Nancy’s dream was that all of her kids receive a college education. She was immensely proud and overjoyed when all three of her kids fulfilled her dream. She was always there for her kids and helped them throughout her life.

After the passing of her first husband, Nancy met Buddy, married and they enjoyed life together traveling, dancing and spending time with their many friends for the last several years. Eventually, health challenges arose for both and Nancy passed away after enduring the loss of a second spouse.

Services for Nancy will be at Mims Baptist Church in Conroe, TX on Sunday January 18 from 2-4 PM with visitation from 2-3 and the service from 3-4 officiated by Pastor Jerry Chaddick of Mims Baptist Church. Metcalf Funeral home is taking care of arrangements in Conroe. Nancy will be buried in Ardmore, OK at Griffin Hillcrest Memorial Park on Friday January 23 @ 2PM.

Nancy is survived by her brother, Williams Thomas Lakey of Lewisville, TX; son, Randall (Randy) of Bellaire, TX; daughters, Karla and Tammi of Conroe, TX; and granddaughter, Ashley Carter of Houston, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family is thankful to MD Anderson downtown Houston and The Woodlands for the care and support they provided during Nancy’s treatment. They also extend a heartfelt thank you to all of their close friends for the prayers, love and support during this difficult timeframe. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to Mims Baptist Church.
