Nancy Elaine Edgmon was born on August 5th, 1947 to Mary and James Minter. She grew up in the small town of Columbus, Texas where she would often reminisce of her time playing pretend as The Lone Ranger, exclaiming “Hi-Ho Silver” while riding the home’s propane tank off into the sunset. In high school she participated in the Pep Squad and Future Homemakers of America. After graduating high school, Nancy moved to Houston where she attended business school and started her career. Upon posting a message on a bulletin board looking for a ride to work, she would serendipitously meet the love of her life, John William Edgmon. They were married on Valentine’s Day 1969.
In 1976 Nancy and John bought a house on North Pacific Street and started a family. It was here that she spent the next 47 years of her life cultivating a loving home where all were welcome. She worked as a full time mother for sixteen years, raising her children and volunteering with the P.T.A., Boy Scouts, Brownies, Vacation Bible School and Mother’s Day Out. In 1992 she restarted her career, working her way up to a title loan officer and closer. Later she pivoted to a marketing position where she excelled at networking and making new friends. During her career she contributed to many community organizations including the Conroe Noon Lions Club and the Conroe Chamber of Commerce. In 2007 she retired allowing her to spend more time with her family, friends and church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and antiquing with friends for “treasures.”
Nancy never met a stranger. She was sincerely kind and genuinely invested in all who crossed her path. She was known to invite strangers to her home for a meal so that they wouldn’t be alone on a holiday. Often considered an “adopted mother” by many, she made sure that anyone who came to her home was well-fed and went home with leftovers.
Nancy passed away on July 26th, 2023 at the age of 75. She will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched.
