

Philip L. Rust, 61, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017. He was born on February 27, 1955 in Borger, Texas, to Jack and Vivian Rust. He had a long career of over 30 years with Phillips 66 and Chevron/Phillips. Later in life, he graduated, with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Technology. Subsequently he then took a position in Jubail, Saudi Arabia as a Health and Safety Advisor. Phil enjoyed his many hobbies which included radio controlled airplanes and drones; golf with his daughter Ashley (who he rarely beat); water skiing (extraordinaire); motorcycle trips on his Goldwing; woodworking and salami and cheese sandwiches. Phil is survived by his parents, Jack and Vivian Rust, wife of twenty three years Cheryl Kennedy Rust; children Sarah Rust, Eric Rust, Stacy Graff and husband Muhammad, and Ashley Benn and husband Daniel; grandchildren Brien Rust, Noah and Isaac Graff, Kaitlyn Kasper, Kyle Kelly, and Carter and Kennedy Benn; brothers Rick Rust and wife Sherri, and Doug Rust and wife Renee; sister Karen Baldwin and spouse David Douglas; cousins Lisa Dawson and husband Jan, Kyle Clark and wife Jennifer; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Metcalf Funeral Directors. Phil enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest and his family and friends were the most important part of his life.
