Porfirio Colón Santos (Porfi) 77 years of age, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 3rd, 2023, at home with his wife and family surrounding him. Porfirio was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend, and neighbor. He was married to Rosa Colón for 48 years and was a loving father to five daughters and a father figure to four sons-in-law, who he considered his sons, and many nieces and nephews.
Porfi lived a full life focusing on his faith, wife, and family. He served in the US Navy on the USS America, then worked as an electrical engineer for more than 34 years and made many life-long friends. Serving on missions in Bulgaria and Greece, he devoted his retirement to serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Porfi was a devoted father and the spiritual leader of his family. He loved and guided his family with his wisdom, humor, and advice. Porfi loved spending time with his wife and daughters, watching his Eagles football and baseball games, spoiling and cuddling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, and researching his family genealogy.
Porfi was born to Porfirio and Maria (Santos) Colón in Barranquitas, PR on January 2, 1946. He was preceded by his father, mother, and brother, Luis Alberto. He is survived by his wife, Rosa; his five daughters and four sons-in-law, Linda and Eric, Bibi and Matt, Vanessa, Cindy and Evan, and Rosa and Alex; his 11 grandchildren, Lauren, Liam, Lindsey, Chloe, Matthew, Trevor, Inara, Desmond, Cecilia, Rafael, Sofia; his 2 great-grandchildren, Avianna and Joy; and his brothers and sisters, Evelyn Jean, Maria Teresa, Norma Iris, José Antonio, Miriam Socorro, Luz Raquel, Ricardo Javier, Roberto Manuel, and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Porfi’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 8 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Sonny Halford officiating. Gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 pm until time of service at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, TX 77304. Catered celebration of his life will follow the service with family and friends.
