Raymond Kirk, age 81 passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Born and raised in Montgomery, Texas, Raymond was affectionately known by everyone as Lee Kirk. One of three siblings, Lee, was brother to sisters Bonnie and Linda Rae. When he wasn’t playing the role of brother, Lee was often found on the basketball court or football field. After graduating Montgomery High School, it was off to the Army followed by college and soon after a move to Houston and a business career with Texaco and Foley’s.
Lee married his longtime sweetheart, Barbara Ann (Bobbie) Flanagin, on April 23, 1966. When they weren’t working, you could always find them making the most of life. Whether it was on trail ride, shooting skeet, fishing, hunting, playing dominoes or dancing the night away…they were having fun and dreaming up the next adventure. One of those next adventures was son Micheal “Buggs” Neal, born in 1976 and it wasn’t long after that the now family of three decided to move back to Montgomery.
Trading business suits for his trademark overalls, Lee found a new career in custom home building. He truly had an eye for design and many of the homes he built were works of art. From remodels to new construction – you name it – he could build it.
As the years went on, Lee and Bobbie had more adventures. From raising cattle to becoming foster parents, you could say his plate was always full. Husband, Father, Grandfather, Foster dad, Brother, Uncle and Friend – Lee always had room in his heart for many. He loved Jesus and was a member of Hawthorne Baptist Church in New Waverly, Texas.
Lee is survived by his wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Kirk; his son, Michael “Buggs” Kirk, and wife Brooke; grandson, Ethan Kirk, and wife Shelby; foster-sons, Michael DeLa Rosa, David Reza, and Amado Rivera; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Raymond will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas 77304, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. Raymond will be laid to rest in Bethal Cemetery, Bethel Road, Montgomery, Texas 77356.
