Raymond E. Stevenson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 1, 1924 and died peacefully on August 6, 2018 at the age of 94. Raymond worked for 30 years as a teacher and counselor, including 17 years in the Cleveland ISD. After he retired from Cleveland, he became pastor of the Community Church of God in Conroe for twelve years. Helping and guiding students, church members, and others brought him great joy and Raymond mentored both young and old throughout his careers and life. Raymond obtained his Bachelor of Theology from Gulf Coast Bible College, Bachelor of Science from Sul Ross State University, Master’s Degree in Counseling from New Mexico State University and his Doctorate degree, at the age of 76, from Slidell Baptist Seminary. While Raymond loved helping others, his truest love was displayed daily through his devotion and thoughtfulness to his family. Those who will miss him greatly include: his beloved wife and the joy of his life, Jean Stevenson, wife of 72 years 7 months and 7 days, of Cleveland, Texas; daughter Jan Roberts and husband Benny of Cleveland, Texas, daughter Judy Jones of Conroe, Texas, and son Steven Stevenson and wife Elizabeth of Winona, Minnesota; grandchildren, Russell Roberts, Matt Mewis, Amy Etheredge, Dylan Cundiff, and Nicholas, Joshua, and Catherine Stevenson; great grandchildren, Owen, Leah, and Coy Roberts, Eliot and Jessie Rundell, Lydia and Jakob Etheredge, Serenity Cundiff and Dylan Cundiff Jr., and Chloe and Drew Mewis; numerous nieces and nephews, church members and friends. Raymond was the youngest child of William and Phoebe Weston Stevenson and was preceded in death by his parents and his nine siblings. Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 6-8pm. The Celebration of Life service will be in the Cashner Colonial Chapel on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10am with Steven Stevenson and Pastor Russell Roberts officiating and music by Jason Barker.
