Pete was born to JB and Gladys Spurlock on December 7, 1933 in Leggett TX. She graduated from Spurger High School in 1952. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Raymond “Rip” Van Winkle on June 13, 1952.
Pete and Rip lived in Lafayette LA for many years before returning to Woodville TX. After the death of her husband, she moved to Jasper TX where she worked at West Department Store for many years. She later moved back to Lafayette LA.
Redith devoted her life to raising her 4 children. She enjoyed having family around, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed antiquing, shopping, gardening, old gospel and country music and eating out with her kids. She loved cooking large meals and having all her kids and their families around her dining room table. She taught us the importance of family.
Toward the end of her days, she talked a lot about heaven. She told us that she was going to have manna with Jesus, and coffee with Dad. I’m sure the coffee is just heavenly! Thank you Mama, you were loved and will be missed.
Interment will be Saturday, October 28th at 11:30am at Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville, Texas.
