

Richard, also known as, Dick, was born on March 6, 1942 to Phillip and Blanche (Silver) Benson in Flushing, New York. He graduated from Westwood High School in Westwood, NJ and graduated from NYU in New York City with a degree in Engineering. He proudly served as an Airman First Class for the United States Air Force. An entrepreneur, he started a medical equipment research and development company, American Medical Concepts, Inc., and held a membership of The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce.
He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, such as traveling to the mountains, cruising the seas with his wife and their friends, volunteering at his church, square dancing, camping, fishing, and playing tennis. In addition to his hobbies, he also enjoyed giving back to the communities in which he lived. He served as a volunteer fireman in New Jersey and New York and also served as Assistant Scoutmaster The Woodlands, Texas for Troop #1772. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Dick is survived by his wife Sally, his first wife Patricia, his children Scott Benson and Danielle Groom, his grandchildren Tyler Groom and Brooke Groom, his brother Jay Benson, sister-in-law Jackie Benson, and nephews Dean and Shaun. He is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Blanche Benson.
Memorial Service will take place on April 21, 2022 at 11:15 in the morning at Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas 77038-1502
