September 14, 1943 – November 4, 2025
Richard Edward Heath, 82, of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. Born on September 14, 1943, in Houston, Texas, Richard was the son of Clarence Edward Heath and Annie Augusta Conway Heath.
On September 10, 1965, Richard married the love of his life, Nita Munger. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and unwavering love. Their 60 years of marriage were a testament to devotion and partnership, and they raised three children who were the pride of Richard’s life: Melissa Heath Evans, Brent Heath, and Corey Heath.
Richard was a welcoming father in law to his children’s spouses – William Evans, Kathie Bopp Heath, and Sarah McGee Heath, and loved them as his own children.
Richard found immense joy in being “Granddaddy” to his nine grandchildren — Grant and Taylor Evans; Madison, Parker, and Rylie Heath; Marshall, Layne, Susannah, and Libby Heath. He loved cheering them on at their games, recitals, and milestones, always with a smile and quiet encouragement that reflected his gentle strength.
Richard was a proud native of the Houston Heights who became an Eagle Scout and then a loyal University of Houston graduate. His first job was at NASA during the Apollo program, and he enjoyed sharing his experience at schools of his children and grandchildren. He went on to have a long career in software engineering, taking him from Houston, to Dallas, to Florida. He was a long-time member of Reagan Masonic Lodge and served a year as State Rainbow Dad for Grand Assembly of Texas. He was also the undisputed champion of Trivial Pursuit.
Throughout his life, Richard was known for his integrity, steady wisdom, and kindness. Whether through his work, his friendships, or his dedication to family, he left an enduring example of humility and grace.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, hard work, and faith will continue through his family and all those fortunate enough to have shared life with him.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held in the Robb Chapel at The Woodlands Methodist Church on December 15th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital – Dallas, Grace United Methodist Church – Houston, Friends of Scouting.
