
Robbie Kathryn Edwards Hutchins, a long-time resident of Conroe, passed away on August 21, 2023, in Conroe, TX. She was born November 6, 1930, in Houston, TX and grew up in Galena Park. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Kenneth and Mildred Giles Edwards, her husband Melvin Goodrich Hutchins, MD, and her sons Kyle and Kam Hutchins.
Robbie is survived by her children Ken Hutchins and wife Brenda of Orlando, FL, Kathy Daniel and husband Bob of Conroe, Karen Roberts and husband Mark of Oklahoma, Keven Hutchins and wife Rhonda of West Virginia, Kelly Hutchins and wife Lisa of Conroe, Karl Hutchins and wife Sharon of Conroe; daughter-in-law Vickie Hutchins of Conroe; brother-in-law Robert Hutchins and wife Pam of Houston; grandchildren Aubree Hutchins and wife Amanda, Clifton Roberts and his significant Lisa Yu, Leslie Daniel Newman and husband Tim, Stephanie Hutchins Bess and husband Matt, Bronwen Roberts and husband Victor Maldonado, Ryan Hutchins and wife Taylor, Mason Hutchins Finley and husband Michael, Harrison Hutchins, Bay Hutchins, Hannah Hutchins; 9 great-grandchildren as well as special cousins.
Robbie and her husband Melvin shared a love of genealogy and conducted extensive research over much of the USA to trace the lineage of both the Hutchins and Edwards history. They were involved with the Montgomery County Genealogical Society for many years.
They also participated in musical organizations together, having met in the Galena Park High School Band. Robbie won a position in the Texas All State Band as a flutist, both performed with the Houston Youth Symphony, and both served in leadership roles as Band Boosters with the Conroe Tiger Band during the late ‘60s into the ‘70s.
Pets were a large part of their lives as they were members of the American Kennel Club where they bred and showed with success prize poodles in AKC events.
Robbie was a proud member of the esteemed National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Coushatti Trace Chapter.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the caregivers at Grace’s Haven for loving and compassionate care during her illness.
A graveside service for Robbie Hutchins will be held on October 20, 2023, at the Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe.
