Rosa Maria McMichael, age 89, passed on March 9, 2026. Rosa was a resident of Conroe, Texas. Born October 13, 1936, to parents Juan and Celerina Duarte. Rosa will be remembered with formal and respectful gratitude for a life grounded in faith, family, and learning.
A devout Catholic, Rosa loved God and her faith, and she cherished being around her family. She also loved being a teacher and working in the education field, and she enjoyed continued learning—finding joy even in the pages of the dictionary. In quieter moments, Rosa found peace in gardening, nurturing what was growing and tending carefully to what was entrusted to her.
Rosa was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Ray Moore McMichael; both her parents; two brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her son, David Ray McMichael and wife Gloria; her daughter, Letitia Ann McMichael; her grandchildren, Mallory Rae Leyba, James Nicholas McMichael and wife Erica, Cassondra Nicole McMichael, and Tiffany Hemiko Johnston-Ushijima and husband Cameron; and her great-grandchildren, Landyn Ray Essing and Ezra James McMichael.
Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303, US, on March 26, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303, US, on March 26, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A reception will follow services in the Cashner Funeral Home Oak Hall.
A Committal Service will take place at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, US, on March 26, 2026, at 1:00 pm where Rosa will be laid to rest with her husband Ray.
