Roy loved his family and friends dearly and found his greatest joy in spending time with them. He enjoyed boating, soaking up the sun, smoking, drinking coffee, going out to eat, riding his golf cart, traveling, working with his hands, fixing things, and teaching others how to do the same. Roy loved sitting on his porch, watching baseball, and eating out especially with the Retired Old Men Eat Out (ROMEO) club for wings. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the water, waterskiing as a young man or pulling his children and grandchildren behind the boat, laughing as he tried to knock them off. He was a devoted supporter of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending countless sporting events and spending many years hauling his children to rodeos and dirt bike tracks. Roy was known to spend hours holding his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, giving them cuddles and kisses.
Those who knew Roy will remember his unmistakable sense of humor and favorite sayings, including “That just ain’t right,” “That’s just hurtful,” “Living the dream,” and “Just killing time.” He also affectionately called his favorite people “loser.”
Roy was an Army Veteran and served his country in the Vietnam war. When he returned Roy became a Master plumber and spent his entire career plumbing and building homes. Roy built three homes for his family, including the home where he and Charmayne raised their four children and created a lifetime of memories.
