Mrs. Coffee was born to Howard and Bessie Reneau on September 28, 1934 on the Reneau home place in Mira, Louisiana. Ruth was one of 8 children born to Howard and Bessie Reneau. The family moved soon after to Belcher, Louisiana. Ruth graduated from Belcher High School in 1952. After graduating Ruth married Robert “Bob” James Coffee on October 5, 1952. Bob was stationed at Barksdale Air Force base in Shreveport, Louisiana. Soon after being married they were transferred by the Air Force and were stationed in England. In 1955 Ruth and Bob returned to the states and started their new civilian life. They started in Shreveport Louisiana and then moved to Laurel, MS. From there they lived in Refugio, Texas, Fort Worth, Texas, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Louisiana and then to Garland, Texas where they have resided for the last 42 years. Ruth and Bob moved to Magnolia, Texas in early 2019 to be closer to family.
Ruth attended Beeville Business College in Beeville, Texas and held positions of Business and Office Manager in the Oil and Gas, Legal and Retail areas of business. Ruth had a passion for flowers, especially Red Roses which she had planted all around her home in Garland, Texas. She also enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends and spending time with her family.
Ruth Coffee is survived by her son Mike Coffee, daughter-in-law Dedra Coffee, along with 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; Dane Coffee of Seabrook, Texas; Kara Coffee Kreisman (Harley Kreisman, Brodie and Briar Kreisman) of Kansas City, Missouri; Averi Coffee Woodard (Brian Woodard, Reid Michael Woodard due in September) of Sanger, Texas, Cade Coffee of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sister Debbie Reneau Bennett and her husband Bobby Bennett of Shreveport, Louisiana, Brother in Law - Stormy Barnum of Brownwood, Texas, Brother in Law - Harvey Palmer of Shreveport, Louisiana along with a host of nieces and nephews and their families.
Ruth will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery with her Husband of 68 years, Robert “Bob” James Coffee who preceeded her in death by 16 days on July 28, 2020.
A Visitation will be held at Metcalf Funeral Directors 1801 E. White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas 77304 on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 5-7 PM with a funeral service at Metcalf Funeral Directors at 1 pm on Friday, August 21, 2020. Interment will take place on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 11 am at Houston National Cemetery.
