Ruth M. Graefing was born October 26, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Colonel Frrederick and Laura Mortensen and passed away on August 22, 2010. She graduated from St. Mary College and then met Private Harry Graefing in St. Louis when he was ordered to be the driver for her dad. They married, started a family and began their adventures together. They traveled to the Azores, New York, Chicago, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Alaska and Texas. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by daughter, Sue Harvey and husband Terry, son, Pete Graefing and wife Annette,grandchildren, Beth, Derek and Dillon Harris,Harley Graefing, Scott and Valery Graefing. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Tom Hopper officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 5:00-8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home.
