Sam Lincoln, a man who lived life at full throttle and brought fun to every room he entered, passed away leaving behind a legacy of adventure, laughter, and lasting friendships.
Sam was born in Corning, New York to Newton King Lincoln and Mary Catherine Patoni. The Lincoln family relocated to Hollywood, Florida, where Sam entered high school. After high school, he proudly answered the call of duty in 1964, serving stateside in the U.S. Army until his Honorable Discharge in 1970. Sam spent his early years back in New York participating in local drag races, boating, and camping with his growing family. His need for speed culminated in 1972 when he drove in the infamous New York-to-California Cannonball Run. He had proudly prepped his 1970 modified Chevy Monte Carlo at his Sunoco station in Rochester alongside his co-drivers. Although the car broke down before the team reached the finish line, the setback never dampened his spirits; he always loved to reminisce about the legendary run. His racing exploits earned him numerous trophies and were featured in several magazine articles.
In 1991, Sam brought his vibrant energy south, moving to Spring, Texas. As a skilled mechanic, he quickly established his car repair business where he later met his wife Darlene in 1995 during a chance encounter when she walked into his shop. It didn't take long for him to build a wide circle of close friends and jump right back into his favorite pastimes: racing cars, spending sunny days out on the lake, golfing whenever he could, and traveling the world. In his later years, Sam channeled his dedication into his local community, proudly serving on his subdivision’s HOA Board for nine consecutive years.
Sam had an undeniable, contagious zest for life. Anyone who knew him knew, wherever he was, he was going to have fun.
He was preceded in death by his parents. His memory will be kept alive by his loving wife, Darlene Lincoln; his children, Paul Lepley (Sue), Jacqueline Lincoln (Bjoern Meyer), and David Lincoln; and his beloved grandchildren, Jasper and Conner Lincoln. He also leaves behind his bonus children, Natalie Webster, Adrienne Flack (Colby), and Jordan Burr, along with countless friends who became family along the way.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, 1801 E. White Oak Terrace, Conroe, TX on September 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the service.
